Collection: Sadia Dempster

Sadia Dempster, lives in New York City and works with a diverse range of materials, including acrylics, beads, fiber, fabric, yarn, light, motion, recording devices, and more. Sadia draws inspiration from memories of their mother, the vibrant energy of the city, their friendships, and a boundless curiosity about the universe.

Their artwork explores themes of alternative lifeforms, ways of being, and a "bisexual extraterrestrial forcefield," using art as a way to transcend limitations and expand their perspective. Creating art helps Sadia release inhibitions and feel as though it opens both their "third and fourth eye."

Sadia's hope for the future is simply to have one to exist in. They currently experience manic episodes, which can be "peachy" until they’re not, as well as periods of depression. Art-making offers a meaningful way to navigate these experiences.
